Ni cælum ac mundi totius machina Amore,
Concordi vnita ac pace ligata forent,
Omnia deficerent vinclis elementa solutis;
Cælum & terræ orbem, cunctaque seruat Amor.

All depends vpon loue.

The litle God of loue transpearseth with his dartes
The heauens and eke the earth in musicall accord,
For without loue it were a chaos of discord,
Thats fastned now in one of well conioyned partes.

Conserua il tutto Amore.

Fanciullo Amore il ciel, l’onde, e la terra
Trapassa con sui dardi, vnisce i cori,
Il mondo fora vn chaos pien d’horrori
Senza Amor, ch’ ogni cosa nutre, e serra.

Cupido ’s hemels loop/ de zee/ en ’t aerdrijck mede
In harmonie houdt/ en hecht met schichten goedt:
’t Waer al maer sonder hem een chaos heel verwoedt.
Den hemel hoogh’ en d’aerd’ hy onderhoudt in vrede.

Amour par tout, Par Amour tout,
tout par Amour, par tout Amour

Ce petit Dieu d’Amour le ciel, la terre, & l’onde
Transperce de ses dards, les joignants d’vn accord:,
Sans l’Amour tout ne fut qu’vn chaos de discord.
Il nourrit & soustient le ciel, & ce bas monde.

Als de hemel en het bouwwerk van de hele aarde niet door Amor in eendrachtige vrede verenigd en verbonden waren, dan zouden alle elementen teloorgaan omdat hun verbindingen losraakten; de hemel en de aardbol, ja alles wordt door de Liefde bewaard.

If heaven and the structure of the whole earth were not united and joined in harmonious peace by Amor, all elements would perish because of the loosening of their connections; but heaven and the terrestial globe are saved by Love.
