Vbi dolet, ibi manum adhibemus: sic si quid
delectet, ibi linguam. translationtranslation

The mouth is the discouerer of the mynd.
There where the smarte is felt the hand is lightly layd,
And what the harte contaynes that doth the mouth discouer,
Much for to speak of loue doth manifest the louer,
By often speech of loue loue often is betrayd.

La lingua corre doue il dente duole.
Ponsi la man là doue, ò cuoce,
Di quel che s’ama si ragiona ogn’hora;
Parlando assai scuopresi Amor anchora,
Alleggia il cor quelche’ à l’amante noce.

Daer ’t herte vol af is/ spreeckt den mondt af.
Daer ’t seer doet tast men na/ en daer men het voelt smerten/
Ghemeynelick men spreeckt van ’t gheen daer ’t hert na treckt:
Voor ’t spreken van sijn lief wert dickwijls Liefd’ ontdeckt.
Het gheen’ den minnaer schaedt verlicht den grondt sijns herten.

Dont le coeur est plein, la bouche parle.
Ou l’on se sent blessé, la main souuent s’y porte,
De ce qu’on aime fort on en parle tousiours:
Le parler assidu decouure les amours,
Et souuant tout malheur de ceste source forte.
