WIe recht bemint spaert geene roe.
Kastyding komt den kindren toe
Al voelt de Liefde, bang te moe,
De felle wedersmart
Der slagen in haer hart.
Zoo gaet het tusschen U en my,
Myn Bruidegom door wien ik ly,
Uw liefdegeessel maekt my vry,
Plukt onkruids wortel uit
En siert me als uwe Bruit.
Want uwe Goetheit en Beleit
Kastyden niet uit toornigheit,
Nogh straffen zonder onderscheit,
En nimmermeer te vroegh.
'k Was niet volmaekt genoegh.
Kastyding werkt door 't vleesch in 't hart;
Die werking baert een liefde-smart,
Die alle weereltliefde tart.
Och, help me, al valt het bang!
Och, help me, al duurt het lang!

In deze smarten niet verstikk',
Of morre, of zelfs een oogenblik
