Dees Sot laet onbedacht de Levende fonteijn,
Daer uijt hij drincken mach, soet-Smakent water Reijn,
Verslijt sijn tijt om niet, jn Swaer en moeilijck Slaven,
Om een stinckende poel, en Dode Put te graven.
D'aenslagen sijn van hun ydel, vergeefs, en mis,
Die soecken buijten Crist, t'gheen daer niet buijten is.
Hy is de waere brun des Levens, en (ten kortsten)
Die wt hem drinckt sal inder Eeuwicheijt niet Dorsten. translation

Ce sot laissant la tres vive fonteine
Se caue un puits, qui l'eau ne peut tenir,
Dont tout le mieux qui lui puisse venir,
C'est que son temps il pert auec sa peine.
Ainsi pour vray l'entreprinse est tresuaine
De ceux qui vont hors Christ chercher recours.
Christ est la source & la vraye fonteine.
Lui seul est tout, d'autre n'auons secours. translation
