Wij sien hoe dat jnt t' geen ons dagelijckx aenstoot,
Wapens van voorsicht en van wysheyt sijn van noot.
T' gebruijck daer van wy best aen Cristus sullen leeren
Die wij als t'eenich hooft van alle wijsheijt eeren.
De Slang, wanneerse siet haer vijant comen aen
Om haer te doden. Soo sijt niet en mach ontgaen
Deckt sij voor al haer hooft, dat soeckt sij meest te wachten
Leert, wil de wijheijt van t' Serpent oock niet vachten translation

Voyant liurer l'assaut iournellement,
Il est besoin de s'armer de prudence,
Ainsi qu'auons de Christ enseignement,
Qui est seul chef, & nostre sapience.
Quand le serpent voit le bras qui s'auance
Pour le meurtrir, et que sa vie y pend,
N'a de son corps, ains du chef souuenance.
Aprenons donc prudence du serpent. translation
