De fluckse wackerheijt ons afgeschildert wort,
Met kaerssen jnde hant en kleren opgeschort.
Toelichtster van die sijn in duysterheyt gheseeten;
Opweckster van de luij en vadsige nietweeten.
Niet dat sij is vermaeckt met sulck geselschap seer
Sij waeckt veel liever en verbeijt haer Godt en heer.
Eij! laet ons oock alsoo onachsaemheijt verjagen
Ons Heer en meester coomt. siet het begint te dagen. translation

Voicy qui est troussee sur ses reins,
Voulant par là monstrer sa diligence.
Chandelles a brulantes en ses mains,
Les opposant à l'obscure ignorance.
Elle n'a point auec elle accointance:
Ains veut veiller en attendant son maistre.
Veillons aussi, & chassons nonchalance,
Le maistre vient, & ia se fait paroistre. translation
