Dissimulas frustra: quis enim celaverit ignem?
Lumen ab indicio proditur usque suo.

Niet wel men decken can Cupidoos vier van minnen,
Het vindt altijdt een gat, waer datmen 't stopt of steeckt,
Daer 't deur sijn stralē schiet: de macht elk meest ōtbreeckt,
Te schynen anders, dan het hert ghetuyght van binnen.

On ne peut bien celer de Cupidon la flame,
Elle trouve tousiours quelque trou pour passer.
Et lancer ses rayons: l'amant peut desguiers
Fort difficilement les passions de l'ame.
