Ick decke vast1 den brand/ ick doe seer
wel mijn beste/
Maer t’is om niet ghedaen/ het comt doch uyt int leste:
Hoe qualijck ist om doen in
Venus
2 bitter
pijn
Te tooghen3 ach eylaes een vroyelijck4 aen-schijn.
Het vier vonckt in mijn hert/ ick magh my al wat veynsen
Int aensicht blijckt nochtans een vonck van mijn ghepeynsen.
O onverberchlick vier/ wat datmen doet oft’ laet/
Daer is altijdt een vonck ofte twee die ons verraet.

Ik bedek de brand steeds goed, doe zeer mijn best, maar het baat niet. Uiteindelijk komt het toch uit, hoe moeilijk is het om een vrolijk gezicht te tonen wanneer je lijdt aan Venus' bittere pijn. Het vuur brandt in mijn hart. Ik kan wel veinzen, mijn gezicht verraad toch een vonk van mijn gedachten. O onverbergbaar vuur: wat men ook doet of laat, er zijn altijd een of twee vonken die ons verraden. |
