Amor pisa la soberuia,
Que quanto mas soberano,
Tanto tiene mas de humano. translation

De ziel vol liefde haer verblijdt
In nederheyt, en soeckt te wesen
Tot andren wil en nut altijdt,
En door haer dienst te zijn ghepresen,
De hoouaerdy de pauwensteert
Veracht, en treedt sy met de voeten,
d’Ootmoedicheyt die ruste baert,
Wy bouen al begheeren moeten.

Amour, me voici resolüe
De suiure en ce monde tes pas,
Et pource foulant ceste queue,
i’Aime mieux demeurer en-bas:
Et de chasser tousiours arriere
Ceste image de vanité,
Außi la vertu la premiere,
Est celle-la d’humilité. translation

Translations

Ze haat opgeblazenheid.
Love hates pride
Love is not inflated, it is not self-seeking, it suffers everything.
When the Apostle had said 'love is not competitive' he added immediately, as if we were asking the reason why it is not competitive, 'it is not inflated', as if he were saying 'it knows no jealousy, for this reason that it also knows no pride'.
Where was this supportive love to be found? It comes forth from the fundament of humility that is Christ.
Love and humility are nowhere separated from one another, and the connection between the two is so seamless that who is raised in one of them masters both at the same time.
If you keep nature in mind, pride will not hold sway over you; moreover, you will keep it in mind, if you watch yourself.
