Godts liefde s’menschen ziele trout,
In eewicheyt, en Godts behaghen
Is inden mensch, als hy hem hout
In liefden trou tot allen daghen:
Syn liefd’ en laet ons nimmermeer,
Tenzy wy eerst met s’weerelts saecken,
Verghetende trou, deucht, en eer’,
Door ouerspel van hem gheraecken.

Remarquons ici ce qu’emporte,
Et ce que veult ce cercle; afin
Que nostre Amour de mesme sorte
n’Ayt iamais de bout ny de fin.
Car ceste amitie n’est que faincte,
Qui peut vn iour ne plus durer;
Et le prix de nostre Amour saincte,
Gist du tout à perseuerer.

Translations
De
liefde is eeuwig. |
Love is eternal |
Alles
gaat voorbij, behalve God lief te hebben. |
Everything passes by except loving God. A love that can end was never true. For it has to be eternal. |
|
With God there is place for undisturbed rest, where love is not deserted, if it does not desert itself. |
Daar
steek laat2. |
Love does not get its name from anywhere else but from friendship, and only in Christ is it steadfast, in whom alone it can
be eternal also and happy. |
Geef
