2/30/76/1220/C]

Waer deur wert liefde meest bekent?
Waer deur sal meest de ziel doen blijcken
Te sijn vol ware liefd’ gheprent?
Om van Godt nimmermeer te wijcken,
t’Sal sijn door wercken deuchdelijck,
Altijdt ghetrou, ghereet, & vaerdich,
Die maer alleen sijn liefdes blijck,
Of hy is goet, oprecht, en waerdich.

Et là la pieté n’a lieu;
Car la vertu seule est l’indice
Du zele qu’auons enuers Dieu.

Translations
Deugd
is het kenmerk van de liefde. |
Virtue is the hallmark of love |
Whatever you do in word and deed, do that all in name of Our Lord Jesus Christ. |
Waar
geen liefde is, kan geen rechtvaardigheid zijn. Liefde moet immers in werken getoond worden. |
Where love is not, justice cannot be. For love has to be made manifest in deeds.ready |
Indien iemand Mij liefheeft, zal hij mijn woord bewaren. |
Whoever loves me shall hold on to/preserve what I say. |
The proof of love is to show it in deeds. |
Wie
He who has my commands and preserves them, he is the one who loves me. |
