Vinum medicina dolori.translation
Ecce mariti abitum queritur deserta Ariadne,
Sed Bacchi auxilio sospita facta fuit:
Scilicet expellunt animo bona vina dolorem,
Gaudiaque ex luctu nata videre licet. translation

De wijn verdrijft droefheyt.
Ariadne ziet op strandt haer lichte Lief ontvluchten,
Zy schreydt en klaaght met recht om haer bedroefde schijn,
Maer Bacchus diese ziet en deerelijc hoort zuchtē,
Vertroost haar, en verdrijft haar droefheyt met de wijn.

Le vin guarit tristesse.
Ariadne gisoit regrettant au rivage,
La fuite de Thesé son infidele amant.
Mais Bacchus lors la mer en c'est endroit fendant,
La prent en son vaisseau, & sa douleur soulage:
Ainsi le vin estaint la douleur en nos cœurs,
Et nous fàict oublier, & essuier nos pleurs.

But with Bacchus' help she recovered.
For indeed, good wines drive pain from the heart.
