In Cruce stat securus Amor [22]
XXII.
In Cruce stat securus Amor.
IN Cruce stat securus Amor: fremat Orbis, &
Tutus Amor, gressū si Cruce firmet, erit. (Orcus,
Sic rident Boreæque minas, Eurique furores,
Culmine, Olympe, tuo qui posuêre Larem.
Crux tibi Lar, & Olympus erit, si noueris vti:
Vsus, Amor, fac ames; stat Cruce tutus Amor.
Innumeris Orbem Sortis rotet orbita gyris,
Vt rotat insani vorticis ira rates,
Vt per plana citus volitat sola verbere turbo,
Vt rota præcipiti vertitur acta Noto;
Stat Cruce tutus Amor; Sors sub iuga transit Amoris.
Quem sibi Crux stantem subdere nulla potest;
Omniaque vt vertat, nunquam Sors vertet Amorem:
Qui viget in duris, omnia vincit Amor:
Verbera mille pluat crudis Tribulatio flagris,
Blanditias credet verbera, flagra iocos.
Vincula si manibus, pedibusque Angustia nectat,
Illi grata manus vincula, grata pedis.
Rodat dente Fames, igni Sitis vrat, Amorem
Nulla Fames subiget dentibus, igne Sitis.
Nudus oberret humū, mare naufragus, omnia spernet
Siue perîcla soli, siue perîcla sali.
Sæuities redeat Latijs bacchata theatris,
Seu tua Maxenti, seu tua, crude Nero;
Iamque rogos animet, iam strictum in vulnera ferrū,
Membra rogis, ferro colla parabit Amor;
Spicula carnificis vibret inclementia lethi,
Obuius in lethi spicula curret Amor.
Dulce mori. Spes vita tuas tibi prodiga serua,
Vita Amor ipse sibi, spes sibi solus Amor.
Ipsi adeò moueant cœlestes arma manipli,
Et vires Virtus conuocet ipse suas;
Desuper astra tonent, Styx fundo exæstuet imo,
Coniungatque suas Orbis vterque manus:
Stabit Amor, dum Crux se stabit amantibus ara.
Omnis in æthereo se liquat igne dolor.

Plustost esbranslerez, rasantrez pied rez terre,
Le sourcilleux sommet d'vn rocher de la mer
Que ce petit garçon; il rira vos tempestes,
Si long temps qu'il aura la Croix pour sa retraicte.
