V.
His vertitur Orbis.
ESt Vertumnus Amor, formas se fingit in omnes;
Talia, si Protheus quis fuit, ora tulit.
Tela vibrat miles; venator retia tendit;
Nunc prece, nunc precio, nunc agit ille minis.
Nunc tonitru, trifidæque imitatus cuspidis ignes
Ima crematuras spargit in ossa faces.
Ludit, & illudit positis nunc histrio telis.
Munde, caue tectos in tua damna dolos.
Spicula ponit Amor; sed tu ne pone timorem;
Est arcus, flagrum quod puerile putas.
Mox iterum aptato lunabit cornua neruo,
Lethalisque tuum figet arundo iecur.
Ludenti ne crede; magis confide furenti;
Ludicra nam sequitur serius ista dolor:
Serius & serus; cum diris cincta colubris
Alecto Stygijs protulit ora vadis.
Trāsit ΕΡΩΣ in ΕΡΙΣ: Odiū comitatur Amorē,
Aut sequitur: turpi nulla in Amore fides,

Nulla fides, & nulla quies. Inuertitur Orbis,
Ludere cùm Cyprius cœperit Orbe puer.
Ac velut inflicto volitans sub verbere turbo,
Voluitur in gyros, seque sequendo fugit;
Dant animos plagæ, plagas puerilia lora;
Sic Odium hinc Mundum, sic Amor inde rapit.
Ductus Amore Paris, Ledæi prædo pudoris
Vela per AEgeas barbara fecit aquas:
Hinc illæ lacrymæ: Danaas Odium, iraque dextras
Vertit in exitium Troia superba tuum.
Idem Amor AEneam tot Ponti erroribus actum,
Coniugia, & Latias quærere iussit opes:
Ast Odium Turni stimulans præcordia totis
Anguibus, in Teucros compulit ire duces.
Sæuit Amor thalami, mentes fera versat Erinnys:
Sic geminâ Latium, Troiaque peste perit.
Auri Amor in Parthos Crassū impulit; arma retorsit
Mox Odium, & flauo mersit in imbre caput.
Regni Amor in patriam conuertit Cæsaris arma;
Patrum Odio patriam sanguine tinxit humum.
Terrarum dominâ quid fortius vrbe Quirini?
Et potuit Romam vertere solus Amor.

Mille tours, & retours ioue la giroüette;
Quand l'espoux de l'esté le doux Zephyr halette:
Ne t'estonnes doncq pas, que la sphere du mōde
Battue de ces foüets vire de rond' en ronde.

Wat is dit voor een kindt /
Dat met een soet ghewelt /
De werelt dus ontstelt?
De Liefde. Wat een quaet
Moet ons dan doen den Haet?
Neen / neen; de Liefde wint.
Veel quader is den hondt /
Die t'samen speelt / en bijt;
Dan die u van uw' wond'
Met sijn ghebasch bevrijt.
