Defendit Parthi celeres lorica sagittas,
Ferreus umbo aciem ferri inhibere valet:
At nihila telis pharetrati munit Amoris,

A Parthian’s cuirass defends him against swift arrows. An iron shield has the strength to withstand sharp iron. But there is no defence against the weapons of quivered Amor. Whom he strikes with winged spear, he transfixes. |
