Coudt zijnde sticht zy brandt.

De couwde vuijrslach vuijr, in’t drooghe voedsel, plant:
Couwd is mijn Lief in haer, in and’re stichtse brandt.

Frigida accendit.

Quantumcunque simul frigent ferrumque silexque;
Fomes at igniculos excipit inde suos.

Froide elle allvme.

Le Fusil quoy que froid la Mesche froide enflamme,

Zelf koud doet zij ontvlammen.

It sets alight what is cold.

Hoe kil ook ijzren vuurslag is en vuursteen evenzeer,
Toch moet van hén het tondel juist zijn vonken krijgen.

No matter how cold both iron and wood are,
Still the tinder receives its sparks of fire from them.

Koud, ontvlamt zij.

Hoewel koud, zet Vuurslag de koude lont in brand,
Een hart, in marmer verkeerd, schiet in vlam door de ijzige houding van een dame.
